American boys head to Dutch land

That ole GPS takes out out of the frankfurt
Metro area were aiming northwest towards Oomen, netherlands. Now of course we only seen a hundred or two relics or full castles. So today travelling out of germany we see a dozen more. The road is pretty and not too crowded. We stop in a rest area for another 50 euro's of petrol and to stretch. The rest area is fullof tractor trailer trucks. Most truck drivers are frompolandor hungary. In the rest area they break out the camping stoves and cook up a meal. It always looks  like chicken soup with potatoes. We roll on into the Netherlands.
Now we asked our friends why is your country called Holland and the Netherlands? The country name is "the netherlands". Holland is a county/ province within the country, and people have used the term Holland as the country name mistakenly for some time. Also some times it just sounds nicer he said.
We roll along and pull into their driveway.
Made it! No accidents, no breakdowns, no problems and even Liam is still here!
They pull In a few minutes later. Yahoo your back! They say.
We crack open some drinks, break out our camping chairs and begin to tell stories.
Paul has a friend that's a flounder fisherman and he bought about 15, 8" fish so we have a fish fry and french fries ( with mayonnaise!)
We sleep good!
Liam in the van, me in the second floor construction zone, hmmmm
Up coffee, some breakfast, Liam will clean.out and wash the van, I'll help Paul install a 6.5 meter 6"x8" beam in the second floor roof!!! That will provide support for the former he is biilding.( Paul is not a contractor, but a wind tunnel engineer)
The 3 of us hoist the beam up into the second floor thru the window.
Liam heads to the van...wicked smaaaht.
Paul and I spend the next 3 days cutting and notching, pushing and sledge hammering the beam and 2 sleeper legs into place. This is an exposed beam, so we have to keep it pretty. The house has a clay tile roof, we have to remove about 80 tiles and cut a couple holes in the roof. Oh yeah it's drizzly too so we need to tarp the roof and not slip off the 104 yr old roof at a 90° pitch. Oh yeah there's a 8x8 beam support structure in the middle of the room that we need to thread the beam thru. Oh yeah the old beam needs tobe cut out. Oh yeah the outer ceili ng boards have sagged over the years. Oh yeah Paul is always talking in millimeters/ centimeters and I'm always saying I inches and feet.

Well the beam is in, no cuts, no broken bones, only a massive blister on the palm of my hand from using a hand saw....
Liam did a superb job cleaning and organizing g the van. Then he headed into " hamsterland" to have a couple nites at a hostel without " pops".
We try to cram the cases of german beer, rounds of sausages, pounds of fresh cheese, a new BMW, liams yodelling hat and lederhosens,  my alpine horn, and that snowball from the matterhorn into our 50 lb bags plus carry on backpacks..
( now what is 50lbs in kilos?)
We give Paul and shar all our extra camping equipment and supplies, what they don't want we take to the salvation army and were packed!
Up at 5 walk across the street to the train station and were heading home, oh but a stop to scare the relatives in Boston with our Mohawk spiked haircuts, black leather jackets, and facial tattoos! This will prove we've been to europe!
